History of the Property

Family #1 built the Lodge as a private residence in 2008.

After purchasing the home a few years later, Family #2 cultivated a home full of unique collections from their adventures as antique enthusiasts.

When we had the opportunity to become Family #3, we were immediately enamored by the decor, and it became a huge reason why we purchased the property. We were able to negotiate for a majority of their items to remain, allowing the home to maintain its unique aesthetic.

J&H Lodge officially opened as a guest rental location under our management in Fall 2018. Since then, we have grown to 35+ bookings per year and are excited to continue growing. We would like to thank our angel investor for their partnership in our aligned vision for the growth of the property’s potential.

We hope to host your family or business soon!

About The Owners

In addition to J&H Lodge, Justin & Sarah also own and operate 4 Brothers Honey, which maintains 200 colonies of honeybees in 24 different locations across the town of Indiana and other neighboring communities in PA. They are proud to harvest each location separately and thus offer “microlocal” products specific to each county and season. Both Justin and Sarah graduated from Cornell University’s Master Beekeeper Program and became Certified Master Beekeepers.

J&H Lodge is proudly family-owned and operated by Justin and Sarah Humes. They have four sons together and love spending time outdoors together on the property. Justin & Sarah love to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in the Moose Room, and their sons especially enjoy driving the gators through the 107 acres.

Their favorite tradition at the Lodge is having the opportunity to host their extended families for Thanksgiving every year. It has been the perfect setting for everyone to spaciously enjoy each other’s company!

After a 20+ year career as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist, Sarah chose to become a stay-at-home mom and homeschool their children.

Justin has a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from the Pennsylvania College of Technology and built a career working in commercial and residential construction.
